Recap: The Bucks came out of the gates hot, starting 7-4 with wins over the Cavs, Lakers, and Mavs. Then the wheels fell off in a big way. The Bucks forgot that in the NBA those half court rules do not apply. Their biggest problem was they played some offense but once the ball crossed over the half court line and it was time to play defense they looked like a straight guy at a gay pride convention, absolutely lost. By All Star break they were 19-34, the sad part was unlike the year before they weren't tanking. Over the Bucks final 24 games they went 4-20 and had 8 losses by 16 points or more. To say the Bucks sucked was a major understatement. The Bucks brought in head coach Larry Krystkowiak to improve the defense that failed under Terry Stotts, who was brought in to fix the defensive problems the team had under Terry Porter, who was brought in to fix the defensive problems under George Karl. Does anyone see a pattern here, I don't think i have to make some asshole/controversial remark for you to figure it out. The Bucks horrible seasoning led to the firing of GM Larry Harris and coach Krystkowiak which was no surprise, what was a surprise was the trading away of 1st round pick Yi Jianlian. Jianlian sucked, actually i retract that because saying he sucked is a compliment. If i was a Bucks i would have been hoping for one of two options, Either a hired assassin takes him out while he is sitting on the bench or he came down with a sudden case of SARS. There are a couple of things the Bucks did well, all came in the off season. The Bucks hired Pistons assistant GM John Hammond, who then hired Scott Skiles. Another good move was that Hammond went out and got Richard Jefferson who will help give the Bucks a solid 1-2 punch with Michael Redd. Hammond then used his 1st round pick on WVU star Joe Alexander, who is a project pick with a lot of upside.
Strength: 1-2 punch. The 1-2 punch is Redd and Jefferson, and this is all the Bucks have. A lot of teams will struggle to match up on the wings with these two becasue they can shoot and slash. Redd will clearly be the go to guy in the lineup, and with the addition of Jefferson he will have more chance to catch and shoot. Jefferson is going to be the best slasher this team has seen in a long time. Jefferson also has a solid mid-range j.
Weakness: Everything Else. once you get past Redd and Jefferson the Bucks are bad, real bad. They have Andrew Bogut, and Charlie Villanueva, who some people think are good, i think those people are IDIOTS. Bogut and Villanueva are serviceable that's about it, i honestly believe that if you were to take Redd and Jefferson off this team they would lose to North Carolina. Bogut and Villanueva look like they both are stuck in quick sand, and neither one has a vertical over 1inch. Enough talk about these 2 smucks, lets look at 1st round pick Joey A. Now i don't want to be too critical of Joey cause he went to WVU but I'm not his biggest fan. Joey is a nice kid who is gonna hustle his ass off, but he is extremely raw to say the least. He had 1 good year at WVU and that was under Huggy Bear who does wonders with kids ( on and off the court, ie.. his drinking with underage girls). Alexander was drafted off of his potential alone, rightfully so though because his ceiling is high. Alexander will work hard and be a great kid to have in the locker room, just don't look to see much from him in his rookie year. Hes not the best shooter and is raw at all other fascists of the game but like i said he will hustle.
Outlook: Boy is this team gonna suck. Teams are going to try and turn each game into a 5 on 2 game. They will let Redd and Jefferson get their numbers and hold everyone else in check. The Bucks will have problems on d especially down low with those two players who at this point i refuse to even name. In the back court the Bucks have three backup point guards, none of which deserve to start in the NBDL let alone the NBA. Another issue is the Bucks have capped themselves for the next three seasons with some of their signings. Most likely the Bucks will be in that Brandon Jennings Ricky Rubio sweep stakes.
Prediction: 30-52
